How do fillers work?

The fillers are injected either by a fine needle or a cannula (blunt needle). Your doctor will then mould it to blend it in nicely.

What can Fillers target?

What are Fillers made of?

Different fillers are made up of different materials, like hyaluronic acid (HA), calcium hydroxylapatite (CAHA), poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) or poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA).

Even within a single line of fillers, there are often multiple products in that range with different thickness, particle sizes and concentrations. That is what gives fillers its versatility – some products are strong enough to lift, some are softer to smooth out contours.

At Astria, a detailed assessment will be done prior to receiving fillers, so as to ascertain the optimum product for your concerns.

Will getting fillers make my face puffy?

Contrary to a common misconception by social media, well-placed fillers can actually create a slimming effect

By strategically adding volume to areas like the cheekbones and jawline, fillers can create better facial balance and definition. This can lift the heaviness away from the lower face, and draw attention more towards a well balanced mid face, contributing to a slimmer appearance.

Treatment Duration

The filler treatment itself typically takes around 15-30 minutes depending on the amount required. However, do cater around 45 minutes to 1 hour for a consultation and topical numbing.

Downtime

The downtime for fillers is usually minimal. You may experience slight swelling or bruising at the injection sites, typically resolving within a few days. Temporary tenderness or discomfort in the treated area is expected.

Treatment Intervals

The longevity of fillers depends on the type of filler used and the area treated. Hyaluronic acid fillers typically last 6-18 months, while some fillers can last even longer.

Repeat injections are required to maintain the desired results, but this should be well assessed by a doctor, so as to prevent over-filling.
